In a unanimous vote on Tuesday (Dec. 12), members of the Woodside Town Council elected their colleague Chris Shaw as mayor for 2018.
Mr. Shaw, who is starting his third year on the council, is the chief executive and co-founder of H2ORS, Inc., a vendor of electrolyte drink mix related to cancer treatment. He has a bachelor’s degree in economics from San Diego State University and lives in District 3 in Woodside, which includes Mountain Home Road.
The mayor’s job is largely ceremonial and includes setting the agenda and chairing council meetings.
Mr. Shaw came to the council in November 2015 after winning as a write-in candidate in a contest with Nancy Reyering, who had been running without opposition.
Councilman Daniel Yost was elected as mayor pro-tem and will step in when Mr. Shaw is absent.
