The American Junior Golf Association’s Rolex Scholastic All-American list includes Menlo-Atherton’s Nathalie Benrey, Palo Alto’s Bridget O’Keefe, Los Altos’ Sophie Thai, and Stanford commit Megha Ganne.
The criteria include a top-10 finish in an AJGA Open or Invitational between Oct. 2, 2020 and Sept. 12, 2021, a minimum test score of 1450 SAT, 33 ACT, and a minimum 3.5 weighted GPA.
Benrey’s best finish was an eighth-place tie at the Three Little Birds Memorial AJGA Open at Piedmont Club in Haymarket, Virginia in June.
O’Keefe finished second, by two strokes, at the Se Ri Pak Desert Junior in Rancho Mirage in June.
Thai placed second, by one stroke, at the AJGA Junior at Copper Valley in Copperopolis in April. (Her sister Camille Thai and Palo Alto sisters Sydney Sung and Lauren Sung all finished in the top 10; Benrey was 13th).
Ganne was named to the PING Junior Solheim Cup U.S. team and earned Rolex Player of the Year honors.
Lacrosse
Menlo-Atherton senior Jeremy Koren was awarded USA Lacrosse’s Bob Scott Award for the Silicon Valley region. Fellow senior Malone Lohmann was selected as an Academic All-American by USA Lacrosse for the Silicon Valley region.
The Bob Scott Award recognizes a player in each area who goes above and beyond in service to his team, school and community. This player exemplifies the fundamentals of lacrosse, works hard to improve his game and is a leader both on and off the field.
Sacred Heart Prep’s Chris Rotelli was named Coach of the Year for the Silicon Valley region and Billy Barnds and Ben Ramsey were named All-Americans.
Lohman was joined on the Academic All-American team by SHP’s Max Sloat and John Carter.
