Nominations open for Woodside Heritage Tree Award
The town of Woodside has opened up nominations for its annual Heritage Tree Award, a certificate of recognition to owners of historically significant trees in town. The Heritage Tree program aims to identify specimen trees, promotes tree awareness, advocate for the protection of mature trees and educate the community about them.
The award is granted to owners based on the size, condition and care the trees have received. Eligible trees include oaks, redwoods and cedars. The trees will be judged by the Heritage Tree Committee and must meet one or more of the following requirements: outstanding specimen and unique in size, age, species, or historical significance. Awards may also be granted to the best preserved tree and best newly planted tree.
Applications to nominate are due by Sunday, April 5. Visit woodsideca.gov/hta for the application. Awards will be announced during the Woodside May Day event.
