Winter is a magical time to be outdoors on the Peninsula. My favorite activity is a gentle walk in the winter woods, discovering the interesting fauna (looking at you, newts), flora and fungi, coming across enchanting little waterfalls and burbling creeks, and enjoying oh-so-refreshing temperatures.
Whether you’re an avid birder, hiker, cyclist or a caregiver looking for a spot for your little one to climb, swing and slide to their heart’s content, we’re blessed with opportunities to play outside in a myriad of ways.
This week, Angela Swartz shares information on some upcoming outdoor events as well as the latest parks and recreation updates. Learn about a Lunar New Year hike, playground improvements, a call for artists and more. Then get out there and enjoy the rest of the season.
Pulling on my boots,

Peninsula chefs dish on working Valentine’s Day, the busiest night of the year
For many people, Valentine’s Day is a relaxing evening of being wined and dined and sharing a kiss or two. But for those working in the hospitality industry, it’s the most hectic night of the year.

Congrats to Kevin Ma of Mountain View, who was the first reader to correctly identify where last week’s photo was taken (it’s Next Level Board Game Cafe in Mountain View!).

The first person to reply to this email with the correct place where the below photo was taken will win a prize from The Six Fifty and a shoutout in our next newsletter!
