
You may have heard a little something about a big game in the region this weekend. The Super Bowl is back, and whether youβre in it for the love of the game or love of the game day snack spread, we can help you gear up for the busy weekend ahead.
Many Silicon Valley bars and restaurants are hosting watch parties with special add-ons like buffets, drink specials, after parties with DJs and more. Cities and local organizations are also getting in on the football festivities, planning everything from a chili tasting to downtown gatherings.

Silicon Valley restaurants share recipes for Super Bowl snacking
The Bay is abuzz with watch parties and events for the Super Bowl at Leviβs Stadium Feb. 8. But for those viewing the big game from home or at a friend’s place, snack preparation is likely on the calendar.

Lunar New Year Hike: Feb. 17 Docents lead a moderately paced guided hike on the Mindego Hill Trail at Russian Ridge Preserve while sharing information on a few Lunar New Year customs and telling a ChineseβCalifornian story.
Plan Ahead:
Ghost Run: Feb. 21 You don’t have to wait for Halloween to get in on some spooky fun. The town of Colma hosts its cemetery ghost run, including haunting surprises and activities along the route. Wearing costumes is encouraged.
Lamb Yoga: Feb. 21 and March 22 Hidden Villa hosts 45-minute outdoor yoga classes in an enclosed sheep pasture, followed by a half-hour of play time with the lambs (bring a mat or towel, and clothing that can get dirty.)
The Nairobi Movement: Feb. 21 Dr. Frank J. Omowale Satterwhite, Vulindlela I. Wobogo and Juanita Croft present “The Nairobi Movement: A Unique Period in the History of East Palo Alto,” a talk about the grassroots activism and renaissance period in East Palo Alto between 1960 and 1980, when Black residents organized for community power.
Mingle at Main: Feb. 21 The San Mateo Public Library Foundation presents an evening of live jazz music from Sonya Jason and refreshments held at the Main Library.
Ellie Lopez: Feb. 28 Peninsula Books hosts Bay Area author Ellie Lopez, whose debut poetry collection, “Chillona,” was released in the fall, along with several other performers.
Call for Artists: San Mateo County Parks Posters: Through March 2 Bay Area artists are invited to apply to design the next posters in San Mateo County Parks’ series, celebrating Coyote Point Recreation Area, Devilβs Slide Trail and Sam McDonald Park.
45 Years of Violent Femmes: March 4-5 Acoustic punk legends Violet Femmes come to The Guild for back-to-back nights celebrating their many years of music.
Laser Queen: March 14 Some of Queen’s most epic and popular songs are paired with an intense laser light show at De Anza College’s Fujitsu Planetarium.
Are You Ready For It? A Taylor Experience: March 22 This G-rated tribute to Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” includes Traci Marie as Swift, a live band, choreography and plenty of costume changes.
