Over 2,700 residents near Portola Valley lost power at around 7:44 p.m. on March 30. By 8:45 p.m. power was restored, hours before the estimated restoration time of 2:30 a.m., according to the PG&E outage map.

The one-hour outage affected areas of central Portola Valley, Ladera, Portola Valley Ranch and La Honda.

Crews identified an underground equipment issue near the Menlo Park PG&E substation at 8 p.m. around Santa Cruz Avenue, said PG&E spokesperson Stephanie Magallon.

While Menlo Park did not face any outages, she explained that this triggered an outage in the lines that feed energy into the Portola Valley area. The crew responded to the scene before 8 p.m. and were able to fix the problem within 30 minutes, Magallon added.
