Firefighters responded to a two-alarm structure fire after a vehicle crashed into the Hassett Ace Hardware store at Woodside Plaza in Redwood City Monday evening. First responders received the call around 5:13 p.m. on Dec. 15.
The Redwood City Fire Department, Woodside Fire Protection District and Menlo Park Fire District responded to the scene
Alexey Karetski, a Redwood City resident, said he heard the car drive through the front windows as he was about to enter the store. He added that the driver went through the left windows of the storefront and drove into some shelves. A few seconds later, he said there was a “big boom” and flames.
The area around the store was blocked off Monday evening as firefighters respond to the fire. Fire officials shared that no individuals were injured and the incident is currently under investigation.
Orlando Nell, a local resident, said the car was being towed out of the store around 8:16 p.m.
