Menlo College men’s wrestling kicked off the season with the annual Menlo Open, one of two wrestling tournament the Oaks typically host each year. With the largest field in tournament history, the Oaks were up against some stiff competition, but still emerged with the most placers out of all competition.

The Champions

Menlo earned three champions out of the ten weight classes, with two returners blowing through the field and one new Oak making an impact. The first of the returners to secure a title was Riley Siason, doing so up a weight class at 133. Siason earned a pair of victories via the pin in the first round, and in the semifinal match where he pinned Mario Barrios to set up a match with his teammate Ryan Elgarico in the finals. Menlo was bound to win, but it was Siason who bested the freshman with an 8-0 major decision victory. Read the story here.
