Crepes Cafe has been mostly delightful over this past decade, and will be missed. If you have a chance to drop by before its closing on Monday the 28th, it's worth your time. They do both savoury dinner crepes and dessert ones.

Service has always been extremely erratic, but the food is fine.

I'm so sorry to hear about this. Their food was so delicious and the staff so friendly and welcoming. I'm sick not only about Menlo Park's loss of a fantastic place to have a reasonably price meal but about this latest example of a big guy pushing his weight around at the expense of a small but worthy business.

And by the way, we won't be visiting the high end restaurant that's taking your place!

With this news, memories come flooding back of my then young toddler and I often having lunch there, watching the trains go by. It wasn't just lunch, it was an adventure for us. Crepe's Cafe is still known as "train restaurant" in our family and a regular weekend lunch spot. We're sorry to see it go.

So sad to see this great restaurant with wonderful food, great charm and ambiance go. We'll miss you! Please open up again in another location!

It was nice to have something different in Menlo Park and the crepes were good - probably better with the first owner, who had actually visited France to learn technique and recipes.

I am also sad to see this nice restaurant close. Is it possible they could move somewhere else in Menlo Park? There are two vacancies on El Camino right now. Where Su Hong (the restaurant) was and also the space where The Menlo Hub was. Su Hong has been closed for quite a while and The Hub has been closed since this year. It would be nice to see business thriving where these two restaurants are dark!

Many of us are so sad to see the cafe close. :( I agree about service until the new owner took over. Loved the changes and everything they did to make it even better The new owner really seemed to care about pleasing customers and doing it right. So sad crepe lover that you could say probably better with old owner....you should be certain before you say something like that.

I agree Crepe Cafe fan..another example of big guy pushing his weight around. I also understand the current owner off Crepes Cafe is a Menlo Park resident who has children in our public schools and via the restaurant has made wonderful donations of food to help local church, school and the homeless in our community.

We also won't be visiting the high end restaurant taking it's place...we have enough of that already.... What Menlo Park needs is more reasonably priced family friendly places like Crepes Cafe.

This is unfair to the Crepe Cafe owner, staff and our community....pushing another small family run restaurant out!! Shame on you!! Won't be visiting the new restaurant!!

Extremely poor news coverage on why Crepes is being forced to close. Crepes had a long term lease, but apparently in a very contentious lawsuit, instituted by the new owner of the building to evict Crepes, the Judge ruled against Crepes.

As many have commented already, this was really a great place, with a different menu, and will be missed. I too will never eat at the new restaurant, even with its celebrated Celebrity chef, Bradley Ogden.

I'm glad the cafe is closing. The crepes were terrible and the staff obnoxious.

I ate there with a friend a few years ago and sat outside because it was a beautiful day. I was enjoying conversing with my friend when two woman with two small toddlers and their bag of toys sat at the table near us. One of the toddlers ran around pushing one on those little lawn mower like toys that make a loud popping noise, and the other pounded on the floor with blocks and other toys. The noise was so loud I couldn't hear my friend. I complained to the waitress and she said that the restaurant was "kid friendly" and basically that if I didn't like it I could leave. She then made an obnoxious comment about the train saying that she wasn't responsible for the loud whistle - that if it didn't bother me why should the noisy children bother me. I never returned and good riddance to that restaurant.

Grew up in Menlo and often visit family there. Would travel from Burlingame wit our three little ones to enjoy the food, location and ambiance. Just read of the closing and shared with my 5 year old son who LOVES the crepe cafe. We are all very sad to learn our special place is closing. Best of luck to the lovey gals who worked there, they were always so friendly and kind.

Well today is the last day for Crepes, truly sad. After an adverse ruling by a Judge, the landlord finally was able to evict Crepes, even though Crepes had a long term lease, so that an up scale new restaurant could take over the whole space.

We have eaten there numerous times and are really going to miss this restaurant.

Mourning the passing of a family favorite ... We've enjoyed this Menlo Park treasure for years.

Time to learn how to make a croque monsieur and strawberry crepes at home ... but it will be hard to match the friendly service.

Hope that owner Janet recreates the atmosphere in a new location soon!

the "allegations" Rick Moen were facts. One only need do a little research into property ownership and who the listed directors of LLC's or trusts are to figure out who is in control. It's available via the internet. It's not a mystery and any reporter worth his or her salt could have come up with this information. I guess in this day and age that would be asking too much. One only needs to go to the county tax assessor web site to find the property owner and then the California Secretary of State's web site to look up who the directors of the owner's LLC or trust. Of course, if the ownership is listed as "anonymous" the address isn't and a Google search of the address will usually turn up who is located there. Put that name into the SOS website and you have who's running the show. Not that complicated. Surprised you wouldn't know how to do it. No "allegations" just a little "leg work."

I loved this restaurant - it was the only place I found authentic french Crêpes salées anywhere in the area. It was a joy and I am really sad to see it close. I was also sad to read reviews that comment on train noise...what does that have to do with having a genuine Crêpe Flambé With Grand Marnier??? I will miss this restaurant -- and yes, it was child-friendly...also a good thing! And I always experienced good service - maybe it has to do with the attitude of the customers? Thank you for 10 years of wonderful crêpes!

Just to clarify, the 'allegations' The Almanac's unnamed representative removed were, as Menlo Voter said, simply the name of the LLC owning the property, that of the investment firm that in turn owns the LLC, and the names of the two individuals serving as the investment firm's principals. That is literally all I posted. (In particular, I made no allegations whatsoever about them, other than their being property owners.)

Fortunately, as Menlo Voter said, all the information is very easy to find via online public records.
