Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush is set to visit Woodside at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20, for a private fundraising event at the home of Silvia Edwards, a board member of the Woodside Elementary School District, and her husband Paul Edwards.

The couple are co-chairing the event along with Helen and Chuck Schwab of Woodside, Barbara and Tom Stephenson of Atherton, and others. Bill Draper of Atherton is a co-host.

Tickets are $2,700 for the reception, $10,000 to co-host the reception and photo reception, and $27,000 to co-host the two receptions and receive one ticket to a future debate, according to a campaign flier.

  1. Better donate to Jeb! very quickly!

He has already started running out of money. And voters. Politico reports today:

Jeb! just spent a record amount in New Hampshire, $5 million on TV with pro-Bush spots in the past three weeks have occupied about 60 PERCENT of ALL the political ad air-time in the state.

And yet poor Jeb! Bush’s numbers during the ad blitz have moved from 9 percent to 8.7 percent

Great ads! 5 million clams to lose support! Don’t worry, Jeb!, you have the best su… I mean, quality doner-list around. Just come on over to Atherton – we love you here.

So please hurry!! Poor Jeb! needs your donations to keep this losing effort afloat a little longer – after all, The Donald needs someone from the RINO establishment to serve as punching bag during Trump’s campaign stops that gather tens of thousands of conservative voters. http://www.cnn.com/2015/08/21/politics/donald-trump-rally-mobile-alabama/

Many thanks to the Schwabs, Stephensons and Drapers for supporting George Bush’s brother.

  2. All I can say is that the food better be good because donated money isn’t going to buy Jeb a ticket to November 16′.

Do you think it will be a cash bar?

Maybe one of the catering staff can film it secretly like with Mitt and then we’ll get Jeb on tape saying even more inept nonsense……

  3. Maybe they can catch him say “you can keep your medical plan”, or “ISIS is the JV team”, or every family will save $2500 with ACA. Silly things like that. Oh wait someone already has that on tape.

  4. So “really really,” you think using wingnut talking points is going to be a winning strategy this time?

Guess you forgot that the current GOP field is shooting itself in the foot on a regular basis…

  5. Stop the Trolls, I guess the best you can do call people names like wingnuts when they point out the facts. You didn’t dispute any of those statements. You went to the Dems playbook of not explaining how Republicans are wrong but rather draw attention to a shiny object. Guess we will see who is right Nov 2016.

  6. Jeb!’s so-called plan for health care has yet to be released, just a bunch of generalities that do not add up, thus his refusing to take questions on it this week. Unless “reallyreally” is on the Beltway Establishment RINO inside, and can inform us of Jeb!’s replace part of repeal and replace, all he can do is use ridiculous old, overly-parsed, out of context quotes. “reallyreally”: what is Jeb!’s plan?

“really?” said: because donated money isn’t going to buy Jeb a ticket to November ’16

You are completely wrong. The Draper’s donated money will be able to buy Jeb! a ticket.

    To Donald Trump’s inauguration.

  7. @Really Really: Just because what you say gets heavy play on Fox “News” does not make it fact.

You need to get out of your walled estate in Atherton more.

  8. Quotes from 2008, 2009, et al…. I actually have better insurance under it, and I’ve even been rebated money back because of the ACA. Please don’t make me defend it – I then have to go wash my mouth out for a week.

Besides, weren’t the DEATH PANELS quotes from 2009?

I’m actually enamored of Trump’s single payer ideas. Most other industrialized nations have lower costs and better outcomes for the average citizen (not just us Atherton folk.)

  9. I’m sorry to hear that. The formally spiking increases in my rates have steadied the last couple years. You may want to try CoveredCA coveredca . com

Back to topic: Bush’s numbers released show he raised half of the democratic socialist from Vermont. https://projects.propublica.org/itemizer/presidential/ Sanders 26M to Bush 13M

Looks like our good neighbors the Edwards, Schwabs, Stephensons and Drapers best get busy.

Elsewhere, Trump looks in the mirror each morning and asks “hey good looking, how much ya want today?”. Carson is the outlier, in terms of costs, spending half of the money raised just to raise more money. Per twitter:

“Per figures provided by Carson campaign, they raised $20.76 million, spent $14.24M in 3rd Q. $11.21M of that was spent on fundraising.” https://twitter.com/ajjaffe/status/654758342980579328

That’s really bad management. Or just recognizing that Carson is primarily in this for the same reason Newt was in 2012 – to sell his book on a well-covered book tour.

Carson suspends campaign to sell books http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/10/15/ben-carsons-book-tour-threatens-end-civilization-know/ “This week he is catching up on fundraising events and will be back on his book tour next week making stops in Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa. So for the next two weeks, Carson won’t be appearing at any public “campaign events.””

  10. “many of us make too much money for covered California.”

That comment sounds like you are looking only for subsidized care. Covered CA also offers cost effective, negotiated plans including gold and platinum levels. If, however, you make too much money for a platinum plan, I suggest Concierge Medicine. But while I find insurance shopping online to be a monstrous pain in the arse, Covered CA made it a lot easier and saved me money for a high quality plan.

Do not allow Covered CA’s secondary role as a portal for lower income folks to blind you. One hopes you are not blinded to it’s benefits to all Californians for other reasons, but that’s your call.

    And your money.

Back to Bush and fundraising: he and the rest are on the hotseat; RNC’s Reince Priebus said on Thursday

“However, I think that we have become… a presidential party that’s had a really hard time winning.

I do think that we’re cooked as a party for quite a while as a party if we don’t win in 2016. So I do think that it’s going to be hard to dig out of something like that” http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/rnc-chair-gop-will-be-cooked-as-national-party-with-2016-loss/article/2574253#.ViDOysiYfAE.twitter

Thank gosh for Donald Trump! At least there is a chance. With Bush – not so much.

  11. Obama Care, for who,

My premium went up 50% and I had to take my kids off the plan,

According to the blue cross rep on the phone it was because of O.C.

Currently my monthly premium, is $1800, annual deductible $8750, co-pay $45, in addition to deductible out of pocket $8,000, prescription $2,000,

$40,350 a year, After paying that I need mental healthcare, Wait it’s not covered it’s extra.

After 50% taxes, I need to earn $80,000 a year just to break even.

  12. Neighbor: MP, 2 adults age 40, kids age 10 and 15, 80K a year? Here’s a sample from Covered CA – Blue Shield Gold 80 PPO
Monthly Premium Assistance (Tax Credit): $611
    Total Monthly Premiums: $1754

CoverCA total Monthly Payment: $1142 WITH kids (w/ tax credit)
Neighbor’s total without shopping: 1,800/mo WITHOUT your kids

As far as insurance companies blaming ObamaCare, that’s odd – they supported it as a free market solution. On the other hand, if I was on the phone quoting you an absurd price, I might blame OC, and you might holler “THAT FIGURES!” and not look around.

It took me 3 minutes for the sample quote. http://www.coveredca.com/shopandcompare/2016/#healthplans

I’m sorry it isn’t working for you – as I said, it saved me money and I got some rebates at the end of the year because BC did not meet minimum standards. I know several others that were more or less the same, or got better deals. Plus the things we all get: no lifetime or annual cap, no pre-existing conditions, kids under 26, etc.. I’m still waiting for Bush’s plan.

Trumps plan is single payer, a great solution as proven in industrialized nations worldwide. Trump gets it, and is not beholden to insurance companies.

But back to topic: Bush needs our neighbor’s money really badly:
“Jeb Bush’s 86% burn rate underscores fundraising struggles for the GOP establishment”
The former Florida governor spent 86 percent of the money he collected over the past three months, burning through $11.5 million of the $13.4 million that he raised. “He should have (raised) at least $25 million,”

Jeb’s haul … is a staggeringly underwhelming figure for the son and brother of former presidents, both of whom hosted multiple events to shake the family network’s money tree.

“Some donors are really nervous,” another top Bush fundraiser told Matea and Phil.

Donate at your peril, neighbors. America wants Trump, not another Bush. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/wp/2015/10/16/the-daily-202-jeb-bushs-86-burn-rate-underscores-fundraising-struggles-for-the-gop-establishment/

  13. Are you goofballs for real? And we wonder why Congress is so disfuctional. Everybody has to vilify the “other side.”
    Get a life.

  14. Pope: Super cute! Charming in so many ways! I love the the cliche humor about hippies and liberals. So glad it resonates with so many like minded freedom-loving individuals who know that if we elect yet another socialist (Muslim or Jewsish or otherwise), then that’s the end of this Country as we know it.

Please encourage all to donate to such wonderful people as Jeb Bush and Ben Carson. America can only prosper through such selfless acts of generosity, and when people put their money where their beliefs truly lie.

Let’s stick it to those lunatics who don’t appreciate the real America!
