This article is about a year too late. What about all the local teachers that went back to teaching in person last year full-time? They were forced back when there was no vaccine. They had to teach unvaccinated during the surge that welcomed 2021. But, throughout all this, school boards are still meeting virtually. What's wrong with that picture?

Anonymous,
Yet the steps the schools took to prevent transmission seem to have been effective. In the Menlo Park School District, which started back with in-person classes very early, my understanding is that there were no teacher-to-student or student-to-teacher transmission cases. Students, and possibly staff, did test positive for Covid but the transmission to those individuals took place away from the schools. Adults have an easier time meeting virtually than children do. If you have elementary school age children you know how important it was to get kids back in the classroom setting so they did not fall further behind.
