The Tour de Peninsula, a 33-mile-ride that begins and ends at Sequoia Union High School in Redwood City, will take place Sunday, Aug. 5.
The route, which includes the scenic Sawyer Camp Trail and Canada Road, takes riders through Redwood City, San Carlos, Belmont, San Mateo, Burlingame, Hillsborough and Millbrae.
There will be four rest stops, and optional courses of 17 and 21 miles.
Proceeds support San Mateo County’s “Bicycle Sunday,” the closure of Canada Road between the Filoli entrance and Highway 92Ýto allow for car-free biking, skating, jogging and other non-motorized activities.
The Tour de Peninsula entrance fee is $35 for adults and $15 for those 16 and under if you register in advance. Tickets cost $5 more if you register at Sequoia High School the day of the ride.
The ride begins at 8:30 a.m. at Sequoia High School at 1201 Brewster Ave. in Redwood City. Registration opens at 6:30 a.m. To register in advance or find out more about the event, call 321-5812 or go to www.supportparks.org.
Vintage vehicles
to be showcased
The 2007 Vintage Vehicles and Family Festival, presented by the Museum of American Heritage in Palo Alto and over 50 local cosponsors, will be held Aug. 5 at El Camino Park across from the Stanford Shopping Center.Antique cars, hot rods, bicycles, motorcycles and more will be on display. There will be live music, entertainment, food booths, and activities for kids.
Festivities begin at 10 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m. Admission is free. Other proceeds benefit the Museum of American Heritage. For more information, call 321-1004 or go to moah.org.
Forums focus
on senior issues
The Wednesday community forums at the Little House Activity Center are focusing on senior health problems this month. The July 25 session will focus on how to record vital information for family members in event of becoming disabled.All are welcome and there is no fee.
