Ladera Oaks will hold a community meeting on Thursday, Sept. 20, to present information and answer questions about the swim and tennis club’s proposal to replace its pre-1958 facilities, such as the clubhouse, children’s dressing rooms and pool office.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the clubhouse at 3249 Alpine Road in Portola Valley.
The club has filed an application for a use permit with the San Mateo County Planning Division, which is reviewing the club’s proposed plans. The club has made presentations and provided copies of the plans to the Ladera Community Association, planners for the town of Portola Valley, and the San Francisquito Creek Watershed Council.
Plans call for replacing structures that are functionally inefficient, lack energy-efficient features, and can’t be made compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, according to club president Mike Miller.
The new clubhouse would be located approximately 25 feet farther back from Alpine Road and include features to reduce the amount of interior noise heard outdoors. Ten more off-street parking spaces would be added to reduce the impact on the surrounding neighborhood. Existing high-intensity parking lot lights on high poles would be replaced with lower-intensity lights, located closer to the ground to reduce brightness and glare.
