The Menlo-Atherton Vikings inaugurate their 10th Pop Warner football season on Sunday, Aug. 3, when some 150 players assemble for equipment distribution at the Menlo-Atherton High School field.
Open to players from 5-15 years of age and from 35 pounds up, the Vikings offer competition in six age and weight groups.
Once pads and helmets are properly fitted, practice begins on Monday (Aug. 4) and will run Monday through Thursday throughout the month of August. More information is available at www.mapopwarner.com and TheAlmanacOnline.com.
Consistently strong contenders in Peninsula Conference Pop Warner play, the Vikings launch live action on Aug. 31 at the club’s annual Jamboree, and commence regular-season competition on Sept. 6.
Vikings teams have won regional and conference titles throughout their first decade, and have become a valuable source of well-coached football talent for high schools throughout the Peninsula.
Area prep lineups in 2008 include these Vikings graduates:
Menlo-Atherton: Yu Kambe, Rod Nash, Casey Monroe, Turner Baty, Vince Hagman and Wes Hagman.
