Menlo Park has hired an interim police chief from outside the department as it searches for a replacement for the recently departed Bruce Goitia.
Ray Samuels, the former police chief of Newark, Calif., and a public safety consultant, has been on the job since Mr. Goitia retired June 1, according to City Manager Glen Rojas.
The city is in the process of setting up interviews, and hopes to hire a new chief by the end of July, Mr. Rojas said. He affirmed that the city’s list includes candidates from within the department.
