The San Mateo County Superior Court received a $500,000 federal grant to maintain its DUI court, which specializes in monitoring and rehabilitation services for individuals with multiple DUI convictions, the county announced Wednesday.

The grant, which comes from the California Office of Traffic Safety, will maintain the county’s Multiple Driving Under the Influence Court and will focus on “high-risk individuals” by offering “a comprehensive monitoring program that provides the guidance and help needed to reduce repeat DUI offenses.” The grant program runs through September 2025, according to the county.

The county said the DUI program has already helped 949 DUI offenders since its inception seven years ago.

The federal grant will fund existing services, including adding a probation officer, subsidies for continuous alcohol monitoring and enrollment in the program and a bilingual case manager.
