Update: As of Thursday morning, power was entirely restored to Menlo Park, Atherton, Woodside and the surrounding areas.
As wind and rain batter the Peninsula, nearly customers in Menlo Park were without power on the afternoon of Wednesday, March 12. Three separate power outages are affecting the city, with loss of power concentrated in downtown Menlo Park, West Menlo Park, the Linfield Oaks neighborhood and the western portion of Atherton.
According to PG&E’s outage map, the extensive outage was caused by storm damage. As of 4 p.m. on March 12, there was no estimated timeline for power restoration for any of the outages.
“When able, our crews will inspect and make repairs,” the outage notice from PG&E reads.
A wind advisory was issued for the region until 8 p.m. Wednesday, due to the strong, 20 to 30 mile per hour winds with gusts of up to 55 miles per hour that were expected to come with the storm. The National Weather Service forecasted tree damage, road impacts and power outages. Residents were urged to use caution when traveling due to the storm.
