There’s water flowing under Town Center in Portola Valley, but for many years, Sausal Creek has been channeled through an underground culvert that begins at the southern end of the 11.2-acre site and ends near Christ Episcopal Church.
With a major redesign of Town Center ongoing, a group of residents, town staff and consultants has, since the spring of 2006, been pondering the idea of “daylighting” parts of the creek — restoring a natural channel that would bisect parts of the new grassy areas.
A presentation to the Town Council, with council discussion and possible action to follow, is scheduled for an 8 p.m. meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 12, at the Historic Schoolhouse.
Also on the agenda are a presentation on the interior features of the new library, Town Hall and community center by Town Center project architect Larry Strain; and construction-bid recommendations for the new softball field by the public works director.
