Castilleja moved into first place in West Bay Athletic League girls golf action after beating previously undefeated Harker 205-209 on Wednesday at the Sunnyvale Muni Golf Course.
Central Coast Section defending champion Harker (10-4, 10-1) has one match remaining against Notre Dame Belmont on Thursday and is heavily favored to win and finish the regular season in a first-place tie.
Castilleja (11-1) got a brilliant round from freshman Norah Yang, who fired a 1-under 34. Teammate Joanne Zhao shot a complementary 36.
Perhaps the biggest reason for the victory were the efforts of seniors Zoya Chughtai and Masako Yang, each of whom shot their lowest rounds of the seasons.
The overall championship will be decided Monday in the WBAL tournament, also at Sunnyvale Muni.
Also in the WBAL, Hailey Kim and Joelle Kim each finished below 40 to help Menlo beat Sacred Heart Prep by eight strokes 235-243 at Baylands Golf Links.
Hailey shot a 35 and Joelle came in with a 39 for the Knights, who finish with a 7-5 league mark.
Sacred Heart Prep got solid efforts from Gabby Srinivasan (46), Mischa Chaikovsky (48), Neha Lalia (48) and Claire Duchesne (49).
The top two finishers at the WBAL tournament earn automatic bids while other teams are eligible for at-large bids.
The WCAL tournament will also be held Monday at the Golf Course at Moffett Field. Valley Christian and St. Francis were the top two teams during the regular season.
