Here are the local residents who died recently:

Patrick Dancer, 27, a resident of Woodside, who worked with his father at Compass Real Estate, who was known for his adventurous spirit, his passion for cars and motorcycles, his love for wakeboarding, snowboarding, mountain biking, skateboarding, golf, and camping, and his deep affection for animals from dogs and chickens to horses and rabbits, and who was remembered by friends for his humor, kindness, and fearless way of embracing life, died on Sept. 9, 2025.

Adrian Enrico Ledda, 87, of Redwood City who began his restaurant career at 14, went on to own Adrian’s, Stagecoach, and the Brown Jug liquor store, who trained German shepherds to compete at national championships in tracking and obedience, who loved all animals, all sports, and serving home-cooked meals to friends and family, and who worshipped at churches in both Carthage, Texas and San Mateo, Calif., with his wife of 51 years, died on Sept. 13, 2025.

Louise Whitney Sherman, 92, of Los Gatos who worked for 25 years at Stanford University as a meeting planner for the Hoover Institution, who was known for her Kentucky Derby birthday parties and signature teal outfits, who loved France, art museums, theater, dancing, and traveling with her grandchildren, and who once honeymooned in California but was turned away from the Top of the Mark for being underage despite her new husband’s Army uniform, died on July 22, 2025.

Gayle Maehara Nakano, 83, of Palo Alto who spent her career as a research biologist at Syntex, who met her husband Bud on an insurance sales call she turned down, who loved the San Francisco Giants, kept score at her daughter’s softball games, made Christmas cookies from scratch, and held season theater tickets while volunteering for years at the Paly library, died on Aug. 25, 2025.

Robert “Bob” Bostwick Beim, 82, of Atherton who served in South Korea as a U.S. Army Field Artillery Officer, earned an MBA from Stanford after graduating from UC Berkeley, built a decades-long career in real estate and investment management, chaired investment committees for Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital and the UC Berkeley Foundation, and was known for his love of Cal football, international golf trips, and his ability to make everyone feel valued, died on Aug. 26, 2025.
