It’s been more than 50 years since Harper Lee won a Pulitzer Prize for her 1960 novel, “To Kill a Mockingbird.” Now, she has released “Go Set a Watchman,” featuring many of the same characters.
On Sunday, Aug. 30, the Friends of the Menlo Park Library will host a free discussion of both books, as well the classic film starring Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch. The program will run from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Arrillaga Family Recreation Center, 700 Alma St. in Menlo Park.
“Go Set a Watchman” has ignited an international discussion of the once-sainted character of attorney Atticus Finch.
Menlo Park Librarian and filmmaker Nick Szegda will lead the film discussion, with a focus on Gregory Peck’s portrayal. Menlo College teacher Lauren John will leads the book discussion that compares and contrasts “To Kill A Mockingbird” with “Go Set A Watchman.”
