TheatreWorks Silicon Valley this week announced the schedule for its 2019-20 season, it’s 50th and the final season with founder Robert Kelley at the helm of the venerable professional theater company.
TheatreWorks’ golden season launches with Julia Cho’s “The Language Archive” in July, followed by the annual New Works Festival, the comedy thriller “The 39 Steps,” new musical “Mark Twain’s River of Song,” the world premiere of the musical “Pride and Prejudice” (by TheatreWorks favorite Paul Gordon), the Hershey Felder-directed “The Pianist of Willesden Lane,” New Works Festival veteran “They Promised Her The Moon,” the epic musical “Ragtime” and Lauren Gunderson’s “The Book of Will.”
Five productions will be mounted at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts and three will be staged at Palo Alto’s Lucie Stern Theater.
Palo Alto Players’ 2019-2020 season at Lucie Stern will include Steve Martin and Edie Brickell’s musical “Bright Star,” “A Christmas Story, the Musical,” “A Doll’s House, Part 2,” Roald Dahl’s “Matilda The Musical” and “An Act of God.”
Mountain View’s Pear Theatre’s upcoming programming includes Oscar Wilde’s “An Ideal Husband,” “Sweat,” “You/Emma,” “Taking Steps,” The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time,” the annual Pear Slices festival and the musical revue “Side by Side by Sondheim.”
