Singer Lyle Lovett performed Wednesday with his acoustic group at Redwood City’s Fox Theatre. And March 14 marks the last chance to see Foothill Music Theatre’s production of “Legally Blonde” — the uplifting show’s closing weekend has sold out.

An evening with Lyle Lovett
Singer-songwriter, actor and producer Lyle Lovett comes to the Fox Theatre with his acoustic group. Though maybe best known as a country musician, Lovett has a unique sound that draws on strong influences of swing, folk, jazz and touches of blues, all underscored by his dry, quirky vocals. In 2022, he released his first full-length album in a decade, “12th of June.” A limited number of tickets are still available for his Fox show.
March 13, 7 p.m. at the Fox Theatre, 2221 Broadway St., Redwood City. foxrwc.com.

Sphinx Virtuosi
Self-conducted chamber orchestra Sphinx Virtuosi, the flagship performance project of the social justice nonprofit the Sphinx Organization, will perform at Stanford Live, with a repertoire that highlights Black and Latinx composers, who’ve historically been underrepresented in the classical music world. The Sphinx Organization is dedicated to promoting diversity in the arts and the Sphinx Virtuosi, made up of 18 Black and Latinx musicians, aims to “evolve and transform the face of classical music,” Stanford Live’s event website states. The group’s debut album, “Songs for Our Times,” was released last year.
March 13, 7:30 p.m., Bing Concert Hall, 327 Lasuen St., Stanford, live.stanford.edu.

‘Legally Blonde’
Foothill Music Theatre stages a musical based on Amanda Brown’s novel “Legally Blonde” and the 2001 film of the same name. Reese Witherspoon immortalized the role of Elle Woods, a sorority girl who finds her true calling in the law after she enrolls at Harvard Law School — “What, like it’s hard?” — with the plan of winning back an ex-boyfriend. At Harvard, though Elle learns her ex isn’t the greatest, she finds a real community and discovers she has a killer instinct in the courtroom. Wednesday and Thursday’s performances are the last chance to catch Elle in action, as the show’s closing weekend, March 15-17, is sold out.
March 13-14, 7:10 p.m. at Foothill College, 12345 El Monte Road, Los Altos Hills. $20-$32, foothil.edu.
