Atherton Mayor Diana Hawkins-Manuelian has pulled papers to potentially run for reelection to Atherton’s City Council in the upcoming Nov. 5 election, according to the town’s website.
She first ran for a council seat in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. She has served as the town’s mayor since January of this year. Before running for City Council, she served on the town’s Environmental Programs Committee.
Hawkins-Manuelian has lived in Atherton for over 30 years, and raised her three children in the town.
Though she pulled papers on July 25, she has not yet filed the papers, which would make her an official candidate. Vice Mayor Elizabeth Lewis has also pulled papers, and has yet to file them.
Candidates could begin pulling papers on July 15. They must file the papers before the filing period closes on Aug. 9.
