Two teens were arrested after allegedly stealing six dozen eggs from a San Carlos Trader Joe’s, then throwing them at cars while riding in a Waymo on El Camino Real down the Peninsula, authorities said.
According to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 5:40 p.m. on July 28 to reports that two 14-year-old San Francisco boys had stolen eggs. Then, they heard that the juveniles allegedly fled southbound in a Waymo and were throwing eggs at passing vehicles on El Camino Real.
Atherton police officers stopped the Waymo near the intersection of El Camino Real and Atherton Avenue and detained the boys while deputies investigated.
Several drivers in Redwood City reported that an object had struck their vehicles, according to police logs.
The Sheriff’s Office said the case has been referred to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office for possible charges of petty theft and throwing an object at a vehicle. The names of the suspects were not released, due to their age.
