Creating A More Vibrant Menlo Park explores ways our city could make Downtown Menlo Park a more appealing place for residents, local businesses and visitors. My family feels extremely fortunate to have lived here for more than thirty-five years. But unfortunately, the poor physical condition of Downtown remains a huge problem. The evidence is undeniable. City streets, sidewalks and parking lots are not well-maintained. And the City Council is now planning to replace about half of downtown parking with several hundred housing units on city-owned public parking plazas. These developments could greatly harm both downtown and our entire community IF over-built or poorly designed.
