Reimagine Menlo Park today announced a new community-based group that aims to mobilize, inform, guide, organize, and represent residents and Downtown business owners who want (and deserve) a more inviting, visually attractive and economically successful Downtown. Reimagine Menlo Park also introduced a new website that will serve as a hub for members of our community. They are invited to join and support this effort.
“I believe Downtown CAN become a vibrant place where residents and visitors can not only shop, eat and access personal services, but also, relax, stroll, meet and encounter friends”, said founder, Dana Hendrickson. “This transformation cannot happen unless residents and Downtown business owners (a) collectively persuade city council members to adopt this vision, (b) help the City define priorities for new Downtown investments (c) and actively contribute to the planning and implementation of individual projects.”
In January, The Menlo Park City Council publicly acknowledged its inability to engage our community in its planning efforts. This new community-based effort aims to help them AND our residents and business owners effectively work together. The initial version of the Reimagine Menlo Park website is now available. Check out the volunteer opportunities page to see if creating and managing one of the planned communications tools interests you. “Transforming Downtown will not be easy. But it is extremely desirable and doable.”, said Dana.
Ali El Safy, Rich Johnson and Dana are the initial members of the Advisory Team. Additional residents and business owners will be announced soon.
