Apple U-Pick Season at Cal Poly’s Swanton Pacific Ranch is open for business!

Have you ever visited this hidden gem just off our amazing San Mateo coastline?
Swanton Pacific Ranch is close to Davenport and Santa Cruz off Highway 1 and open to the public. It’s a 3,200-acre landscape of redwood forest, riparian ecosystems, and killer views – expansive coastal grasslands that overlook the Pacific Ocean and entertain with breath-taking beauty.
Since 1933, the ranch has provided opportunities to study resource conservation and sustainable management. Part of Cal Poly University, it was donated by the late Al Smith (Cal Poly graduate and founder of Orchard Supply Hardware), with the mission to remain a working ranch used exclusively for “agriculture, recreational and educational purposes.”
You can visit! This is the property of the late Swanton Pacific Railroad, unfortunately damaged in the CZU fire of 2020. The Ranch is still open. Request a trip here or stop by NOW while the season lasts for dawn to dusk U-Pick from heritage apple orchards.
The farm boosts 16+ varieties, available at different times of the year. Here’s their late season harvest:

For more information about the Ranch and U-Pick click here or call (831) 458-5410.
For additional Food Party! fun along the way, stop at Pie Ranch’s or Swanton Berry Farm farmstands for all kind of goodies. Also Coastanoa for a knosh and bevvie on the way home.
