First Lt. Duncan French of the U.S. Marine Corps, the son of John and Elaine French of Woodside, received his wings as a naval aviator recently after completing 21 months of training in Pensacola, Florida, and Kingsville, Texas.
His performance placed him in the top ten of the last 100 aviators and earned him the Commodore’s Award.
Lt. French will transition to the F18 Hornet and proceed eventually to Miramar Marine Air Base in Southern California to join an operational F18 Hornet squadron.
Now 25, he attended Ormondale School in Portola Valley and graduated from Menlo School in 1998 and Harvard University in 2003.
