A new Silicon Valley club of the service organization Zonta International will hold a charter presentation luncheon on Saturday, May 20, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at MacArthur Park restaurant, 27 University Ave. in Palo Alto. The luncheon will be served at 12:15 p.m.
Zonta International is a worldwide service organization of executives in business and the professions working together to advance the status of women.
Zonta members volunteer their time, talents and money to local and international service programs, as well as scholarship and award programs, to further women’s education, leadership and youth development.
Juliette Tulang, governor of Zonta International District 9, is the honorary guest at the charter luncheon. Wendy Merrill is president of the Zonta Club of Silicon Valley.
Established in 1919, Zonta has 33,000 members in 1,250 clubs in 68 countries. The word “Zonta” is derived from a Sioux Indian word meaning “honest and trustworthy.”
