Connie Rhodes, a longtime resident of Menlo Park, turns 100 on June 8, her granddaughter Coleen Duncan has informed the Almanac.

The family plans to celebrate at a gathering of family and friends.

Ms. Rhodes was born in San Francisco two months after the great earthquake in 1906, says Ms. Duncan.

Her family lived across the street from Ocean Beach, close by what is now the zoo. She and her family lived in a tent behind their house while it and the city were rebuilt, says Ms. Duncan.

Ms. Rhodes moved to the Peninsula in 1940 and has lived here ever since.

A resident of Menlo Park for 45 years (she still lives in her own apartment), Ms. Rhodes has always been active in the community, says Ms. Duncan. She is an active member at Little House, plays bingo weekly, is in the book club, and chaired the sewing group for many years.

Married for more than 50 years to Dusty Rhodes (who has died), she has one daughter, Sylvia Duncan, who lives locally; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren, most of whom live locally as well.
