Researchers at the Stanford University School of Medicine are seeking participants who are at least 50 years old, have mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease, and who are not residents in a long-term facility, for a study on the effects that omega-3 fatty acid has on retarding the disease.
Omega-3 fatty acid is found in some kinds of fish. Applicants who consume fish more than once a week or with a recent daily DHA intake greater than 200 milligrams per day are not eligible for the study.
The study will take 18 months to complete and requires a friend, relative or other caregiver to accompany the volunteer to all clinic visits.
For information on how to participate, call the Stanford Veterans Affairs Aging Clinical Research Center at 852-3287, or go to www.alzheimer.stanford.edu.
