If an earthquake or other emergency separates you from your pets, how will you be reunited? Residents of the Woodside Fire Protection District are being encouraged to have their pets tagged with identifying microchips at a special clinic on Saturday, Aug. 25, from 10 a.m. to noon at Station 19, 4091 Jefferson Ave. at Wilmington Way in Emerald Hills.
Sponsored by CERPP, the citizens disaster preparedness group, the clinic operates on a first-come, first-served basis, and chip supplies are limited. Microchip insertion will be under the direction of Dr. Bill St. Lawrence, who is donating his time. All dogs must be on a leash and all cats in cat carriers.
The cost is $25 per animal. The fee includes microchip identification for dogs or cats, and lifetime enrollment in the American Kennel Club (AKC) companion animal recovery database and CERPP’s Emergency Animal Response Unit’s database.
Another microchip clinic is set for Oct. 6 at Station 8 in Portola Valley at 135 Portola Road.
