If you want to help reduce home energy use, the environmental organization Acterra has a project for you.

Green@Home is looking for volunteers to train so they can help residents in their homes by installing simple energy-saving devices, and by performing free basic energy-saving audits.

This service makes sense, Acterra says, because home energy use accounts for close to 21 percent of U.S. global warming pollution.

Green@Home will offer three two-part training sessions in August and September for volunteers who can make house calls, starting this fall, in Redwood City, Menlo Park, Palo Alto, and Sunnyvale.

Training sessions will be held in August and September at Acterra, 3921 E. Bayshore Road, in Palo Alto. For more information, contact Twana Karney, Green@Home coordinator, at 962-9876, ext. 316; or at twanak@acterra.org, or go to acterra.org.
