Ladera Community Church seeks holiday helpers

On Dec. 13, the Ladera Community Church will be assembling Christmas baskets for Life Moves residents and is inviting members of the public to become a “holiday helper” for the day.

Starting at 10:30 a.m., Ladera Church volunteers will be meeting at the church’s Peabody Hall to put together gift baskets filled with essential items such as socks, hats, gloves and gift cards. The church’s goal is the provide 80 baskets this year.

At 12 p.m., volunteers will deliver the baskets to the Navigation Center in Redwood City where they will serve warm meals to the community. The church choir will also perform Christmas carols.

Event organizers welcome all community members to participate in any capacity, whether it be packing, singing, serving or stopping by. The church also welcomes monetary donation by check and online through tinyurl.com/LaderaChurchDonate.

Christmas Art Fair at Alice’s Restaurant

Alice’s Restaurant will be featuring local art at its Christmas Art Fair from 3 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 10. Art work will including jewelry, photography, paintings, wreaths, cards, pottery and more. Visit the back bar area of the restaurant located at 17288 Skyline Blvd. in Woodside.

Riekes Center hosts holiday open house

The Riekes Center in Menlo Park is hosting a holiday open house from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 6. Guests will be able to enjoy small bites, holiday treats and hands-on activities for all ages including gingerbread decorating and wreath making.

The Riekes Center, 3455 Edison Way, Menlo Park, is a community center that serves a fitness, art and learning hub for the community. For more information about the organization and the upcoming event visit riekes.org.

Menlo Park Police Department toy drive

The Menlo Park Police Department is accepting new and unwrapped toys for children between the ages of 1 and 12 years old during its toy drive this holiday season. Donations will be gifted to children in the Belle Haven neighborhood.

Preferred toys include cars, dinosaurs, legos, dolls, unicorns, Barbies and princesses. Donations are being accepted until Dec. 15 and can be dropped off at the police station lobby or the Safeway located at 525 El Camino Real in Menlo Park.
