Police are still searching for a suspect after a 47-year-old San Mateo resident was shot on Thursday, Oct. 15, in Menlo Park while getting out of his car to exchange information following a collision, Menlo Park police said on Oct. 16.

Officers responded to the shooting near Bay and Hedge roads around 8:39 p.m. after the shooter fled in an unknown direction, police said. Police described the vehicle as a small white car, which has yet to be located.

Police spokesperson Nicole Acker said the department had no update as of Wednesday, Oct. 21.

The victim was taken to a hospital with injuries that were considered non-life-threatening. Three children, ranging in age between 8 and 14, were also in the car. None of them were injured, according to the Menlo Park Police Department.
