The Las Lomitas Elementary School District has opened an anonymous survey asking for the community’s input on the selection of its next superintendent. Former Superintendent Beth Polito is currently on leave amidst a financial audit by San Mateo County and investigation by the District Attorney’s Office. Polito is also set to retire in August.

The survey is open from Feb. 3-15 and aims to ensure a “collaborative and inclusive process” for the recruitment of a new superintendent, according to the district’s announcement on Feb. 3.

Community members, parents, students, staff and others are asked about their perspective on the district’s strengths and challenges as well as how they would rank the importance of desired professional experience and leadership characteristics. The personal traits of the superintendent are also in consideration including empathy, accountability, courage, consensus building and accessibility.

The Board of Trustees appointed Valerie Park as the interim superintendent  on Jan. 15.
