Coastal flooding and dangerous beach conditions are expected across parts of the San Francisco Bay Area on Monday, Oct. 12, with cooler temps continuing before a warming trend later in the week, according to the National Weather Service.

A Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect through 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, for bayshore locations along San Francisco and Monterey bays. Areas along San Pablo Bay are under an advisory through 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14.

High tides could flood low-lying areas, cause isolated road closures and increase coastal erosion. At the San Francisco tidal gauge, Monday’s high tide is expected to reach 7.3 feet, about 1.5 feet above normal.

A Beach Hazards Statement remains in effect through 10 p.m. Monday, with breaking waves up to 16 feet and an increased risk of sneaker waves and rip currents. Beachgoers should stay out of the water and away from hazardous surf.

Cool temperatures are expected through Tuesday, followed by a warming trend beginning in the middle of the week. By Friday, inland areas could see highs in the 80s and 90s, increasing the risk of heat-related illness.
