A small brush fire broke out near the 1000 block of Hamilton Court in Menlo Park at around 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8.

As of 3:10 p.m., firefighters reported that the blaze was largely contained, though six fire engines and two battalion chiefs remain on scene to monitor for any flare ups. Smoke could be seen across the Belle Haven neighborhood and East Palo Alto.

The area, located near Meta’s headquarters at 1 Hacker Way, has had several small fires in recent years sparked by nearby homeless encampments.

This is a developing story and will be updated when additional information is available.
