Over 3,500 customers experienced a power outage at 10:20 a.m. on Friday, May 22, following a vehicle collision in Menlo Park at Ravenswood Avenue and Laurel Street, according to the Menlo Park Police Department.
Two lanes on Ravenswood Avenue between Alma and Laurel Street were scheduled to be closed until noon on Saturday, May 23, for PG&E crews to make repairs, but the westbound lane and one eastbound were closed throughout the weekend, causing backups as westbound traffic was detoured to Oak Grove Avenue to cross the train tracks and get to El Camino Real. At 7:15 a.m. on Monday, May 25, Menlo Park police announced that Ravenswood was fully reopened.
Police encourage the public to take alternate routes until further notice. Motorists can expect significant traffic delays in the area.
PG&E spokesperson Tamar Sarkissian told this news organization that the majority of its customers had their power restored as of 11:55 a.m. As of 1:26 p.m., about 150 customers remained without power with an estimated restoration at 2 a.m.
However, the Menlo Park Library at Burgess was closed on Saturday, May 23, with a sign outside saying it did not have power, and directing patrons to the Belle Haven branch library.
Neighborhoods impacted by the outage included North Fair Oaks, Felton Gables, Central Menlo Park and Linfield Oaks.

The outage also affected community facilities at Burgess Park. Menlo Swim and Sport announced that Burgess Pool would be closed until power is restored, and many downtown business had posted temporary closure signs in their windows.
Menlo Swim and Sport posted an update at 12:47 p.m. that the pool would reopen at 1 p.m.
