Bluebrush Canyon, 260 acres of wild and ranch land on the Coastside just south of Half Moon Bay, is another recent acquisition of the Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST) under its “Save the Endangered Coast” campaign.
POST purchased the scenic property in February from the de Cesare family for just over $3.2 million. The Menlo Park-based land trust has now acquired 14,519 acres of open space along the coast, almost three-fourths of its campaign goal of 20,000 acres.
Bluebrush Canyon, located east of Highway 1 along Purisima Creek Road, will help safeguard native plants and animals, and can create a key link in a nearly completed trail connecting the Skyline Ridge to the sea.
The property could have been developed into two new private homes, according to POST Executive Vice President Walter Moore. “By protecting this property, we will be preserving land that represents all four aspects of POST’s mission: natural resource protection; wildlife habitat; recreation; and agriculture,” he said.
