The fourth candidate, Noria Zasslow, didn’t campaign for the spot, and remains somewhat of a mystery to most people in the school district community.

With provisional ballots and absentee ballots dropped off on election day yet to be counted, Ms. Rich, an incumbent, had4,381 votes (31.36 percent); Mr. Child, 4,168 votes (29.84 percent); Ms. Fitz, 3,826 votes (27.39 percent); and Ms. Zasslow, 1,593 (11.4 percent).

The Menlo Park City School District administers four schools: Encinal and Laurel elementary schools in Atherton, Oak Knoll elementary in Menlo Park, and Hillview middle in Menlo Park.
