A major police search is underway for a 23-year-old Stanford University graduate student, May Zhou, who was last seen departing her Stanford home Saturday morning.
“She was leaving the residence to go run some errands,” according to Stanford Department of Public Safety Deputy Ken Bates. The Stanford department Tuesday issued an e-mail alert and began distributing “At-risk missing person” fliers with her description and photo.
A roommate reported her missing. She was last seen about 10:30 a.m. driving her silver 4-door 2006 Toyota Corolla, California license plate 5VFG430, police said.
She is Asian, 5-feet 5-inches tall, about 120 pounds. Her given name is Mengyao but she goes by May, police said.
Bates said so far there is “no obvious motivation for her disappearance.
“She’s doing well in class. It’s just totally out of character for her not to check in with someone,” he said.
Anyone with information about Zhou’s whereabouts or the location of her vehicle is asked to call Stanford police at 650-723-9633, or 650-329-2413 after normal business hours.
