Everyone is invited to “Go fly a kite!” from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, at Bayfront Park.
“Kite Day,” sponsored by the city of Menlo Park, began 19 years ago as an introduction to the newly landscaped recreation area located at the end of Marsh Road near U.S. 101. Last year, an estimated 800 people flocked to the annual, low-key, celebration of spring.
Admission to the park is free and Kiwanis volunteers will be on hand to help with concessions.
“Five dollars gets you a kite, hot dog and soda, water or juice,” says Michael Langford, recreation supervisor for the Community Services Department of Menlo Park. Participants are welcome to bring their own kites and picnics, too, if they prefer.
