In an echo of an incident on May 14, two girls said they were approached Thursday, May 24, in Menlo Park by a man driving a vehicle who tried to engage them in conversation about helping find his lost dog.
The girls said a gray-haired man driving a light blue, mid-sized vehicle encountered them at the intersection of Middle Avenue and Windsor Drive in Menlo Park, said Sgt. William Dixon of the Menlo Park Police Department.
When another motorist honked at the man to get moving or pull off the road, he drove away and the girls immediately went to a neighbor’s house, police said.
On May 14, one of two men in a white van got out and approached a Hillview Middle School girl at the intersection of University Drive and Santa Cruz Avenue and talked with her.
Police are investigating both of these incidents and have said they will increase patrols, Sgt. Dixon said. The police urge parents to remind their children to be aware of what goes on around them and to contact police if they see anything out of the ordinary.
Police are asking anyone with information on this incident to call Sgt. Dixon at 330-6300 or the anonymous tip hotline at 330-6395.
