Rainy months from November to April lead to home sewer backups, the leading cause of insurance losses in the Bay Area, according to the Association of Bay Area Governments.
The association offers free Backflow Prevention Devices, reduced rates on inspection for homes and businesses, and reduced rates for installation of the device.
Services range from $50 to $100. More information and prevention tips for homeowners can be found on the agency’s Web site at http://www.sewersmart.org .
A public service campaign — “Be Sewer Smart — Prevent Sewer Backups and Backflows Season” — was launched by the association Tuesday.
