Woodside resident and U.S. Geological Survey planetary geologist Michael H. Carr discusses recent findings from the Mars rover and what it means about life on the red planet, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, at the USGS campus, 345 Middlefield Road in Menlo Park.

Mr. Carr will explore recent data acquired from a Mars polar lander, the still-active surface rovers, and three orbital spacecraft. He’ll explain how scientists are uncovering new clues about the Martian landscape, geology, and climatic conditions, and how those discoveries are shaping scientific opinion on whether water has been present on Mars, and the possibility of life existing on the planet.

The lecture is open to the public, and held in Conference Room A, Building 3. For information, call Amelia Barrales at 329-5136.
