The NorCal girls’ 18U water polo team made its recent trip to Canada more than worthwhile by winning the gold medal in the BC Open Tournament last weekend in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Meanwhile, the Stanford Water Polo Club’s 18U girls finished third while the Stanford 16U team took fourth place in its division.

The NorCal team went 7-0 over the three-day tournament that concluded Sunday. NorCal beat Stanford 10-4, Calgary B 7-6, Fraser Valley 14-2, Pacific Storm 10-7, Calgary A 8-7 and Pacific Northwest 6-3 in the preliminary rounds.

On Sunday, the NorCal girls beat Pacific Storm again, 6-4, to win the championship.

Rebecca Dorst from Menlo-Atherton and Audrey Pratt from Burlingame were named to the all-tournament team. The NorCal 18U team is made up of girls from Menlo Atherton, Sacred Heart Prep, Los Altos, Menlo and Burlingame high schools.
