A panel discussion will tackle the topic of putting green initiatives into action at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, at Jennings Pavilion at Holbrook-Palmer Park, 150 Watkins Ave. in Atherton.

The event is open to the public and hosted by Atherton’s Environmental Programs Committee.

Featured speakers on the panel include local government officials, and representatives of environmental organizations and green businesses.

They are: Michael Closson, the executive director of Acterra; Marianna Grossman, the executive director of Sustainable Silicon Valley; Gino Gasparini of Norcal Waste Systems; Brock Winstead, a member of state Sen. Joe Simitian’s staff; Portola Valley Mayor Anne Wengert; Breene Kerr, a Los Altos Hills council member; Michael Kim, a partner at Rustic Canyon Ventures; Rick DeGolia, the CEO of Green Wireless Systems; and Steve Schmidt of High Energy Homes.
