Julian Harris scored 19 points but the Menlo College men’s basketball team fell to George Fox, 69-67, in the first round of the Lee Fulmer Memorial Tournament in Currier Gym in Redlands on Thursday night.
The Oaks (2-4) lost their third straight. They will meet the loser of a later game between Redlands and West Coast Baptist on Friday in a consolation contest.
Nick McCullar hit a jumper with 24 seconds left to put Menlo up, 67-66. Drew Davis grabbed a defensive rebound on the other end with less than 15 seconds left, was fouled, but missed the free throw.
Bruins’ Evan Atwater hit a 3-pointer with two seconds remaining for the margin of victory.
The Oaks shot 42 percent, including 41 percent (7-of-17) from long range, and outrebounded George Fox, 40-37.
Menlo trailed at halftime, 40-36.
